LAW 760 - Patent ProsecutionCollege of Law 3 credit(s) Irregularly This course is designed primarily for students who plan to practice in the area of Patent Law before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) which permits only registered patent attorneys and agents to represent clients in the prosecution of patent applications. The course will cover the process of procuring a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The course will also enhance students’ understanding of the legal standards for patentability (building upon the principles explored in Patents and Trade Secrets), will familiarize students with the PTO’s elaborate rules of practice in patent cases, and will provide students with practice applying these standards and rules to facts and situations encountered in basic patent prosecution practice.
