Students in the dual program will complete all liberal arts and major course requirements from both colleges to maintain the standards required by NYSED and Whitman’s accrediting body, AACSB. This program is designated as a partnership between Whitman and the Public Health Department within Falk College. Whitman and Public Health leadership and faculty have worked to create a program that combines overlapping liberal arts requirements as well as other curricular requirements which will reduce the minimum number of credits to 152. Students enrolled in this program will graduate with any one of Whitman’s ten majors and Falk College’s major in Public Health.
There is increasing demand for students with multidisciplinary backgrounds who have a strong understanding of public health issues and with the business acumen to analyze situations and make managerial decisions about those issues. Having a dual degree in Management and Public Health helps prepare students for careers as public health professionals and administrators, including in health care leadership, non-profit management, public and private sector social organizations, founders of public health businesses, and in consulting.
